The breakfast was fine. The food was fresh and the service was decent. Not bad for $8.

i remember going here as a kid with my family and being pretty good food and can remember when we went their for dinner one night and my dad almost sent them to the poor house with all the pull and peel shrimp that he polished off. Even the manager came over and was astonished that a human being could eat that much lol. My and my wife are heading down to Oc tommorrow and after reading reviews i dont think i will go as my first choice a buffet is just that a buffet which means you go get food and as much as you want at your leisure. Its not a soup kitchen or rescue mission during the holidays

Nasty food. The food taste like it's from a box and they just preheat everything. It's a buffet and I don't like how the servers serve you the food. When I go to a buffet i want to serve myself.

This place truly deserves the bad reviews. In fact, I joined Yelp just so I can warn others how bad it is. Worse still is it was $15! Per person. As my daughter said, "you get better food out of a dumpster". The only 2 edible items were the fried chicken & the breaded fish. Very nice staff working in a depressingly decorated interior. Too bad we did not read the reviews before we ate there.

8$ doesnt get you much these days, but if you dont have high expectations you shouldn't be too overly disappointed. I have to agree with others, for a beach town this place is dark and gloomy inside. We had never been here before, and wanted to try something new. And we tried it.....The End

The food is delish... The fried chicken is a must, the waffles are fluffy and the home fries are flavored just right.... The only complaint, which is kinda a big deal, it isn't a "self serve" buffet style. They serve you as you go through the line... The line is L O N G ... We got one plate, went back for seconds and have to end up waiting 20 minutes for another round of "all you can eat"... Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the line...

We wanted a breakfast buffet and this was close to our hotel so we decided to give it a shot regardless of the low star reviews. First, I should say this is run differently than most buffets. They have wait staff behind the buffet serving everything to you. This causes a major line back-up. There were only two girls serving so it definitely slows down the line. The only parts that are self serve are drinks, fruit and toast. While it was rather annoying, I understand the reason I'm sure is to prevent waste. The service was very friendly... have to add that. The food. Not bad. I tried the pancakes (they had chocolate chip ones that I didn't try), waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit, toast, chicken and hashbrowns and the only problem I had was with the latter. I understand that it's OC and they loooove their Old Bay spice, but dang... You don't need it on everything! They totally killed the potatoes with the spice. I love hashbrowns so I was pretty upset about that. Honestly, I don't think this is as bad as everyone on here is saying. However, I guess their breakfast is different than their dinner. Plus, for $11, you can a decent amount of food. I don't think I'd visit again, but I wouldn't say not to try it for all you skeptics.

I recently came here for the breakfast buffet one morning with my family. You pay for the buffet and drink at the door when you arrive. The cashier was a little abrupt and rude. In addition, the drink prices were outrageous and did not offer refills unless you were drinking soda (but this was breakfast...) I was shocked to see fried chicken along with the breakfast "usuals" like eggs, waffles, bacon. The server urged me to try some saying they had the best chicken in town. So I gave in...and moments later, I was glad I did. I've never had fried chicken be the "star" of breakfast! Is that even legal? Ethical? Doesn't even matter because the deed is done, and any consequence would be well worth it! Yes, the chicken was that good! Moist, crispy, and well seasoned. I had to stop myself from going back a 3rd time for more. Speaking of 3, this would've been a 3 star review, but that chicken.............. The breakfast usuals were decent. I had no complaints. Aside from the chicken, I especially enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes.

Old school with dark paneling and low lighting, this place has killer Easter shore fried chicken, with a few other dishes and sides. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, it really is awesome. It's an AYCE or carry out location; both work depending on your hunger and time you want to devote to getting $15pp out of chicken and green beans. They also have shrimp (with spicy cocktail sauce), Mac n cheese, fish, fruit, rolls, lame/typical salad bar, and desserts (that are not worth your time at all). Drinks (other than h2o) are not included in the pp quote. I've been here now probably 6 times and have been impressed with the consistently good chicken each time.

Would have given this place no stars but that wasn't an option. 30 bucks was a rip off for 2 adults. Line style servers serve your food. That takes time. Selection was poor. Waffles were ice cold. No toast was ready and when it was it was lightly toasted. I would have gone up and got a fresh batch of waffles but the line was 10-20 mins long! Server brought me out Pepsi when I asked for ice tea. Avoid this place! Didn't even bother getting anything more

My husband first introduced me to English's chicken when we went to the beach together for the first time and it was love at first bite. I don't know what they use to bread the chicken that gives it it's dark reddish orange coke but I like it. This year was the first time that English's didn't have an ad in the Sunny Day guide which made me panic until I was able to confirm they were still open. My son and his girlfriend went for the buffet and loved it, although they really didn't like the new set up where you are served instead of traditional buffet style. This evening, as we were getting ready to head home we picked up a 16 Piece "Picnic" which is a pretty good deal. It comes with 2 sides, either 6 dinner rolls (hubby's favorite) or 6 sweet potato biscuits, a 2 litter bottle of soda, plates, cups, napkins and utensils ask for$34.95, cheap dinner by Ocean City standards. Everything was good as always but the gravy tasted different then I remember and the potatoes were to thick. I also noticed that the carry out looks pretty sparse, leaving me concerned that the business is in trouble. Hopefully my instinct is wrong because this place is an important tradition

Uh oh, the hangover hungries. We got them. We also spent way too much money the night before to achieve the H duo. Good thing my buddy spotted an all-you-can eat breakfast joint for less than $8 a person in one of those shore guides. That'll liven us up right? Wrong. As we walk in, I got depressed. It looks so gloomy in there. Dark furniture, dark lighting, drab staff. It's fricken morning time, sunny, 85f outside and it's a beach town. Alright, disregard for now, buffet needs to be eaten. Get to the steam trays. Sad again. Everything was well below average. Sure, it's less than 8$, but seriously it wouldn't even pass compared to the breakfast cafeteria buffet here at Temple. Ham slices that's soaking forever in water, leaching out any and all flavor. Bible paper thick bacon that's mostly broken into inch sized pieces. Shit-on-shingles without any buttered toast (only French toast, F that). The only thing that wasn't fucked up were melon slices. As I left deep darkness, the sun bore through my cornea and I felt so much happier.

You don't need a time machine to go back to the 70s. Just step into English's restaurant and you are transported back in time! The decor is extremely dated. It reminded me of places my parents dragged me when I was a child. Hey, maybe they dragged me here and I have been suppressing the memory? The food is basically low-grade caferteria food. Breakfast consists of basics, scrambled eggs, biscuits, french toast, various meats, etc. Dinner was your basic cafeteria foods; nothing exciting. You may ask, "Then why did you give it two stars?" One answer: The fried chicken. They do offer a carry-out on their fried chicken. Skip the buffets. Embrace the chicken. Carry-out their wonderful fried chicken for a nice beach picnic. This I can whole-heartedly recommend.

This is an old Ocean City favorite for me and my family. The highlight of their menu is what they used to call their "Delmarvalous Fried Chicken".... the Chicken is great, and so is their dinner buffet... it includes Baked Ham, Roast Beef, their Fried Chicken, a salad bar, assorted hot vegetables, Steamed Shrimp and more..... it is a great restaurant, and it won't break the bank.... it is especially good for families with young kids.

We came in for the breakfast buffet..when you walk in you pay first before you sit down...I can say ill cross this off the list of places to revisit. Service was pleasant but food not so good.

English's needs to revise its idea of what a "buffet" means. *Excellent* fried chicken, but being doled out your food by servers is odd for a buffet. The girls that work the front and the serving line are sweet and hardworking, but having a second serving feels weird when you ask for it from the same person who gave you your first!

We came here for the breakfast buffet so I can't speak to the lunch or dinner. It's a bit of a dive, but still clean enough and the food passes my "breakfast" requirements. I won't go out of my way to return here but I won't pass it up if I were walking down the street looking for some decent french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, and coffee.

This was honestly the best fried chicken I have ever had! I came down to Ocean City with a couple of my co-workers on tuesday and we were hungry and pass by here. After listening to a very passionate worker talk about the famous 20 year back to back win fried chicken, I decided to give it a try and man was it living to the expectation. The staff was very friendly and as a server myself we were treated like we were at home. I will make sure to come back when I am over at the beach again!

Went for breakfast, buffet style. I am not a fan of fried chicken but theres was good!! Interior is a little dated but clean an servers were very friendly. Food was fine as was the price. I would go back again.

No need to read further - quite possibly the worst breakfast food I've ever eaten in my life. But if you want to know why, please continue... I had low expectations but was open-minded. We were greeted outside the door by a worker (possibly manager) bragging how great the food was including their 'world famous fried chicken'. Yes, at 8am, I want to eat fried chicken.... Anyways, inside, the place looked like I went through the DeLorean and traveled back to 1985. Old. Old. Old. Perhaps that explains the food too... Eggs were overcooked and not real. Hash browns were dry and burnt. The waffle I had looked like it was frozen just a few minutes before it was put on my plate. Everything else just looked gross. The highlights were things that this restaurant didn't make - the honeydew, cantaloupe, and water. I actually had a ton of all 3. Oh, and that 'world famous fried chicken' was just average. I would only go here again if I was paid to go. But I still wouldn't eat anything other than the fresh fruit...

Great breakfast, friendly/ inviting staff, great price. And the best fried chicken I've ever had. Even if you're not a big on breakfast or dinner buffets the chicken is a must. Definitely coming back.
(5)Phil M.
You know that scene in Vegas Vacation when they're throwing indistinguishable food onto a plate? That's sort of close to reality here, but honestly, it's a buffet so you shouldn't be expecting the world either. The fried chicken is pretty great and our server was pleasant. Skip everything else and just load up on the chicken.

We found English is breakfast restaurant to be a good value with good food and nice service. I think you should come here if you're interested in getting getting a quick bite to eat before heading to the beach. The location is great and there's plenty of parking. I would come here again for a simple breakfast (though not two days in a row).

Service sucked and so did the foods
